I’ve been fighting off a migraine for most of the day. I’m sorry if this is an incoherent post.
I’m working through a project and will have it ready to publish in October. If something happens to derail it I’ll let you all know, but for now, I have four things coming out this year: Two novellas, a short story collection, and a story in an anthology.
I’m reading Shadows & Ink by Joe Mynhardt, The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling, A Reviewers Guide To Writing Book Reviews(Saw this on Brian Keene’s post from Sunday), Coffin Moon by Keith Rosson, and Another by Paul Tremblay. The latter of these is a fun, creepy little middle grade book that I’m enjoying the hell out of.
I bought Shadows & Ink because I’ve been in a writing rut. This book is wonderful and I can’t wait to get through it and move onto Volume 2.
Work has been incredibly slow and while I worked two days last week, I spent time with my wife for her birthday. I made a coconut cake, her favorite, and we went out to dinner at one of her favorite places. Our kids saw The Thunderbolts* on Saturday while we took a drive up the canyon and ate at a new place with incredible burgers.
I decided to stretch my ears out a little. I don’t want tunnels, they creep my wife out. I do want to wear a small gauge in my ear.
I have stories I’m going to be working on. There’s one that I’ve had in my head for ten years. I’m finally starting that.
As the bar heads into the slower season, I will probably post more on here and hopefully get more work done. I will bring my laptop to work with me on Friday and Saturdays.
As for movies, I watched The Descent for the first time and it’s amazing. I resubscribed to Shudder as I get my head in that space for writing horror. I watched The Oddity and it’s one of the freakiest and scariest movies I’ve watched in a while.
I’m looking for books about caves or mining in the horror genre. If you have suggestions, please leave them in the comments.
I was hoping to attend Stokercon this year but it’s out of my wife and I’s monetary abilities. I’m hoping for next year but that may not happen depending on the economy and my wife’s job.
I hope you have a good rest of your week.
